Education
The Education Program operates 56 schools serving over 17,000 students cared for by 498 teachers of which 176 are employed by the Government. The program is a joint venture with the government, the various Religious Congregations, and donor partners. 98% of these schools are located in the remote rural areas addressing under-served communities.
As part of the program, 19 Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE) schools are offering pre-school education to 3,708 children age 4-6. 65% of the ECCE schools are found in rural areas.
Our Catholic schools have high reputation for excellent student performance with many schools leading their districts in the promotion of students in National Exams. At Comboni and Don Bosco secondary schools, nearly 100% of students who sat for Grade 10 & 12 exams were promoted for the last 5 consecutive years, and many of our primary schools boast 100% pass rates for Grade 8 National exams.
Some of our schools run children feeding and nutrition programs where malnutrition is prevalent, including for 886 pastoralist students as coping mechanism to reduce dropout of children apart from its emergency service value.
A 3-year “Raising the Bar on Quality Education” campaign has been successfully implemented to increase education quality with the following achievements:
