Social rehabilitation program
The Social Rehabilitation Program encompasses multifaceted social services targeted to the ever-increasing number of urban poor. Beginning in 1999, the Missionaries of Charity (MC) Sisters are the agents of these compassionate services. They operate 2 homes for the destitute, namely: Gift of Mary’s Help in Hawassa, and St. Mary’s Home in Adola with a capacity of 600 patients per day and a total of 7,994 patients per year. Services include: treatment of malnutrition; longterm care for very sick patients suffering of HIV, TB, mental and physical disabilities; homeless and street children care, postnatal care for young women with newborn babies; acade
mic tutorial classes and basic education sponsorship, skill training for self-reliance.
