Woman Promotion Program

 The Women Promotion Program has the goal of creating equality of gender and to promote equal opportunities for both women and men through women empowerment, community sensitization and income generating activities. AwCS runs 3 rural women’s promotion projects in Gosa, Arramo and Fullasa involving: skill training, capacity building, micro savings & community lending and micro enterprise generation.

 There are also two well-organized TVET colleges: The Women Promotion TVET College in Hawassa and Mary Help TVET College in Dilla. Cognizant of the increasing rate of dropout and challenges to advancement of girls in the National Exams, the colleges have adapted their program to the new technical and vocational education policy of the region and to the pressing needs of women in the city. The colleges have been training women and girls (particularly those in destitute situations) in different disciples: Info-technology, Fashion design, Embroidery, Library science, Housekeeping service, Food processing and Hotel kitchen operation.
